This roasted okra recipe makes a crispy, delicious and spicy okra which will tease and tantalize your taste buds and have you asking for seconds. If you are questioning why on earth should you eat Okra - of all the things? Your wait is over! I will tell you why (beside its delicious, low carb and helps you lose weight)

Health Benefits of Okra

According to this study,  Okra has been found beneficial in maintaining blood sugar, as well as generally good for heart, kidneys and brain health. Okra helps regulate blood glucose levels and hence helps with weight loss as well. This study also found that roasting or steaming Okra, did not cause deterioration in its health benefits either.

Here are the only ingredients you need:

  • 1 lbs Okra 
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp (Optional)
  • Black pepper 1/4 tsp
  • Amchoor (Dry Mango) powder 1/2 tsp (Optional)
  • Coriander powder 1/2 tsp (Optional)
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garbanzo Beans Powder 1 Tbsp
  • Olive oil 1 Tbsp


Wash and cut okra lengthwise and put in a mixing bowl. Add all of the other ingredients. Mix well and then roast  in an airfryer at 390F for 20 minutes.

No Airfryer? Spread on Parchment paper on a cookie sheet and cook in 400F Oven for 25-30 minutes. Check at around 15 minutes mark to turn.


Actually. Yes. Squeeze a little lemon juice before serving. This could be eaten as a snack by itself. Or eat it as a side of a protein of choice. Or Make a crunchy wrap on a whole grain tortilla.
